Ein Roadmovie über Menschenrechte
Mit einem gelben Bus, Kameras und ohne Budget fahren zwei Freunde im Januar 2016 aus Berlin los, um mehr über die Leben von Fliehenden in Europa zu lernen. Ihre Fahrt bringt sie von Lesbos über Idomeni bis in die Balkanstaaten.
Vor dem Hintergrund des EU-Türkei-Migrationspaktes und der Schließung der „Balkanroute“ untersucht der Film die Folgen für das Leben der Menschen auf der Flucht, und berichtet aus einer sehr persönlichen und emotionalen Perspektive von Menschen, die alles verloren haben. Mit dem Blick aus dem kleinen gelben Bus werden die Freundschaften dokumentiert, die mit Fliehenden auf ihrem Weg entstanden, sowie die Arbeit der vielen Unterstützer*innen, deren Arbeit allzu oft vergessen wird.
In unserer heutigen Situation, die von Angst, Hass und Misstrauen in Europa geprägt ist, ruft „March of Hope“ all das in Erinnerung, was uns zu Menschen macht, und protestiert gegen die wachsende Fremdenfeindlichkeit in Europa.
Der Film und die Fragerunde finden in englischer Sprache mit deutschen Untertiteln bzw. mit Murmelübersetzung ins Deutsche statt.

A Road Movie on Human Rights
In January 2016 two friends set off to learn first hand about the lives of refugees in Europe. With a pair of cameras and a little yellow van, the journey would lead them from Lesvos to Idomeni and on through the Balkans.
Set against the background of the EU pact with Turkey and the closure of the „Balkan Route“, the film explores these events through the lives of those most effected on the ground and manifests a deeply personal and emotional perspective on those who have lost everything. The story of the little yellow bus team shows the friendships made with refugees, as well as the work of aid workers, volunteers and locals whose work is too often forgotten.
In an environment of fear, hatred and suspicion in Europe, “The March of Hope” is a celebration of everything which makes us human, and a challenge in film to the xenophobia growing in modern Europe.
The movie and the Q&A will be in English with German subtitles / whisper translation into German.
