Specific Rights for Refugees with Illnesses
Do you have physical illnesses that you were born with or developed later in life, such as diabetes, joint diseases, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, or chronic pain?
Then you are entitled to appropriate support and care. Contact the social counselling service responsible for you locally. They will help you with your first doctor’s appointment. It is important that you obtain medical certificates for your illnesses and submit these documents to the BAMF (Federal Office for Migration and Refugees).

- Consideration of your specific health situation in the asylum procedure
- Acknowledgment of your serious illness during the asylum interview
- Appropriate accommodation with good access to medical care, shops, and public transportation
