Specific Rights for People with Mental Illness
Do you suffer, for example, from sleep disturbances, nightmares, disturbing memories, fears, compulsions, or deep sadness? Or do you feel that you’ve changed or that something isn’t right?
Then you are entitled to appropriate support and care. Contact the asylum procedure counselling or local social counselling service responsible for you. They will help you with your first doctor’s appointment. It is important that you obtain medical certificates for your condition and submit them to the BAMF (Federal Office for Migration and Refugees).

- Consideration of your specific health situation in the asylum procedure
- Acknowledgment of your condition during the asylum interview
- Appropriate accommodation with good medical care
- Support in managing your daily life

EmISA – Empowerment and Inclusion in Saxony-Anhalt (LAMSA)
The project supports people with (mental) disabilities in gaining better access to existing support services. The counsellors at the locations in Halle, Magdeburg, and Dessau-Roßlau offer multilingual counselling and assistance.
