Specific Rights for Seniors

You are an older person and finding it especially difficult to adjust to your new surroundings? Do you suffer from illnesses or impairments due to your age that limit your ability to manage everyday life?

If, for example, you live alone or your family is overwhelmed with your care, there are options to support you in your daily life. You are entitled to appropriate support and care.

If you have significantly more difficulty moving than others your age, experience more intense and persistent pain, and/or your memory and thinking abilities are declining more severely, you may also be classified as a person with a disability or as person with a serious illness.

Your Specific Rights

  • Consideration of your impairments and/or experiences of discrimination due to your age in the asylum procedure
  • Accommodation that ensures support for health-related impairments (e.g. living with family members, housing with good access to essential infrastructure such as medical care, shops, and public transportation)
  • Additional social benefits (highly dependent on your specific health condition and living situation)
  • Benefits independent of your family
  • Assistance in daily life through mobile services that come to your home, help with shopping, delivery of warm meals, household help, transportation to the

Counselling Centres for Older People

There is no specific contact point for elderly refugees in Saxony-Anhalt. Please contact the social counselling service responsible for you at the accommodation where you live. They will help refer you to the appropriate counselling services.
