Specific Rights for Pregnant Women
You are pregnant and wondering what specific support you can receive during pregnancy, for the birth, and after the birth? Perhaps you would also like to speak confidentially with someone about your pregnancy? Maybe you’re unsure about what specific rights you or the father of the child will have after the birth in Germany?
Pregnant women are entitled to appropriate support. You have the right to regular health check-ups, medical assistance, and counselling from a midwife.
Your Specific Rights
- Consideration of your pregnancy in the asylum procedure and during the interview
- Possibility to postpone the asylum interview appointment in case of severe pregnancy-related symptoms
- Safe and appropriate accommodation
- Support from a local counselling centre for pregnant women
- Financial or material support, for example: additional allowance from the 4th month of pregnancy, maternity clothing, later baby supplies (baby clothes, cot), and specific baby furniture
- Counselling and assistance from a midwife during pregnancy and birth
- Medical support during childbirth, if needed
